| Karen and Dan recently took a cruise to Greece for Mom's 40th birthday. We left from Massachusetts on Halloween 2008 and returned November 9th. It was the trip of a lifetime. We had so much fun. We sailed out of Venice and made stops in Athens, Myokonos, Katakalon, Corfu, Split - Croatia and then back to Venice. As our first cruise, we were extremely happy with the whole experience. We sailed on the Royal Carribbean ship - Splendor of the Seas. This allowed us to see a ton of different places without having to haul bags around everyday. We always found something to do when on the ship although we didn't go to many of the shows as they seem to be catered to the more senior traveller - in other words, the music and dancing is to hits from the 50's, 60's and 70's (if I hear that stupid Volare' song one more time, I'm going to throw up). The food was tremendous and our waiter, Jose and our assistant waiter, Rodrigo, were the best on the ship. Our favorite bartenders were Bruno (pool bar) and Joel from Trinidad (Solarium Bar). Dale - the guy who made up our room everyday was also tremendous. We gambled often - primarily roulette - and ended up breaking even over the course of the cruise. My wife even tried karaoke for the first time in her life during a guess this song kind of game show - she guessed Sweet Child of Mine in only two notes. |
