Family Recipes

This page contains various recipes of some of our favorite foods. The recipes have been passed down from our parents and grandparents.

Späetzle - German egg noodles

4 cups flour
5 eggs
1/2 tsp. - 1 tsp. salt
1/2 - 3/4 cup of milk

Empty the flour and salt into a bowl. Make a well and put the eggs into the center. Incorporate the eggs. Once they're mixed in, stir in the milk a little at a time. You're trying to get a dough that is thick but still beatable with a heavy wooden spoon. Stir the batter for about 5 minutes - it should hurt your biceps to do this if the dough is of the right viscosity. It's an excellent upper arm workout. Once the batter is smooth and shiny, put the batter in a ricer (see pic below). We usually serve gravy for the spaetzle but my son likes putting barbecue sauce on it (which is gross).
